Winter Itinerary

Birding Extremadura also offers short winter breaks (six days/five nights) when the highlights include large concentrations of wintering Common Crane (75% of the European population), winter assemblages of Great and Little Bustard, and flocks of both species of sandgrouse. Resident eagles (Spanish Imperial, Golden and Bonelli's), Black-winged Kites and Eagle Owls should also be seen. There are wintering Hen Harrier and Merlin. In the late winter the area also hosts large flocks of waders, like Black-tailed Godwit, as well as waterfowl. The season runs from mid-November until mid-February.
